Speaking of the gems, they come in a variety of traits and colors –eight in total. Some will cause poison damage, others, as mentioned, will absorb mana with each successful hit. Some have other unique abilities as well, such as having the chance to paralyze or freeze a target while others have a chance to deal double damage or lower the target’s armor rating. Combining gems of different colors will combine abilities allowing for players with a bit of versatility in order to –but will give lower bonuses than a pure colored gem of equal level. Stages will present you with limits and options to the types of gems that will be available in it –this means that you will not always be able to apply a single tactic to all stages. Instead you must take into consideration the powers of the gems that you have available and create a defense setup that maximizes their effects on the targets.
Gems can also be used as bombs. The games gem bomb is an ability that does not require a single point of mana to cast, however, it requires that you use one gem and once you do, that gem will never return. Using the gem bomb on different parts of the game will provide players with different results. Using the gem bomb on an enemy will cause damage to the target. Using it on an enemy base is the only way to destroy enemy spawning structures. If you use it on your gems that are in your inventory, the gems will change to the color of the sacrificed gem. Using the gem bomb on the enemy wave icon will increase the number of enemies that will spawn at that point. These are just some of the ways that players can use gems. Knowing and utilizing this gameplay factor helps plenty when it comes to creating strategies in order to survive against massive enemy waves.
Enemy waves are plenty, and you can even adjust settings in the beginning of the stage to increase the number of waves or even increase the volume of enemies per wave (more on that later). The interesting thing here is that you can choose to call in multiple waves early. Yep, not just one wave early, but several. Actually, if you are not careful when clicking around the screen, you might end up calling 8 waves worth of enemies in accidentally. Using the gem bomb ability on the enemy wave bars will allow you to increase the number of enemies in a specific wave –at the cost of a gem (so be sure to sacrifice a low level gem for this one).
